For whom did the great English playwright William Shakespeare write his 154 sonnets, dedicated to the mysterious W.H.? The story is set in 17th-century Naples and its two protagonists are Desiderio, who has returned after a long time in London and claims to have been the principal interpreter of Shakespeare’s female creations, and Zoroastro, an old friend who finds Desiderio’s incredible stories hard to swallow.
