“Pasta Lab” at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò is a family-friendly culinary journey to Italy led by Italian chef Valentina Carbone. Families will join Chef Valentina in a hands-on exploration of pasta making, focusing on the beloved cavatelli, a type of “Pasta del Sud” shaped in small shells. Together, children and parents will knead, cut, roll, and shape the dough, discovering the traditional techniques behind this famous and tasty Italian pasta. Through hands-on participation, children will learn about food preparation, cultural traditions, and the importance of teamwork and patience. They will gain practical skills in following the recipe, measuring ingredients, and understanding the science behind cooking. The experience fosters a deeper appreciation for Italian culture and cuisine, and children may find joy and pride in creating something from scratch. Sharing their culinary creations with others can induce feelings of happiness and satisfaction.
After the Lab, families will have a taste of cavatelli, freshly mantled by chef Valentina, with butter, Parmesan and sage. Children will receive a certificate of completion, a personalized paper chef hat to color, and will take home in beautiful boxes their handmade cavatelli, ready to be cooked and savored. “Pasta Lab” at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò promises a delicious culinary adventure and an occasion for socialization and fun. Italian treats will be served to our young participants after each lab.
