View details about the event: From the ‘Great Actor’ to the ‘Mattatore’In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, takes place in all five boroughs of NYC, All shows are presented in Italian with English supertitles.
Each year In Scena! presents a survey of the best Italian theater from Italy, in New York City.
Inspired by Orlando Furioso, one of the best-known works in Italian literature, the two act opera Furiosus with libretto by Flora Gagliardi takes us on a galactic journey from earth to moon, from mythical to human, highlighting the vicissitudes of life, love, sorcery, and seduction while Roberto Scarcella Perino’s score provides a warm, whimsical, and thoroughly transportive musical underpinning of the unfolding drama.
The event featuring “The Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne” took place at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, Lincoln Center. It was part of GIORNO DELLA MEMORIA 2024, in collaboration with the Primo Levi Center and the Center for Italian Modern Art. The concert, with music by Vittorio Rieti and based on a poem by Lorenzo de’ Medici, was performed by Cantori New York, marking its first presentation since 1948. The event also connected to an exhibition on Corrado Cagli, reflecting on his life and experiences during World War II.
Though live events in our elegant building are what we are best known for, we felt the need to create web-specific content that could reach out to a wider audience beyond the borders of New York City. Check out a single episode or binge an entire web series.
