Students from Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music collaborate with formerly incarcerated men and women to reveal the contemporary relevance of Dante’s Divine Comedy. The performance uses music and poetry to consider the parallels between contemporary journeys out of prison and Dante’s medieval journey out of hell.

Featuring virtuoso Gospel singer Naomi Wilson, a recording artist for Die Jim Crow Records and acclaimed rap/poet BL Shirelle, co-executive director of Die Jim Crow Records.

Followed by a dialogue on Dante, prison, and the arts moderated by Ron Jenkins (Visiting Professor, Yale Divinity School).
