All members of the troupe play several characters, of both genders. Commedia dell’ Arte is a very demanding performance art. All actors have to be in excellent physical shape, and can easily go from walking with a hunch to doing summersaults on stage.
Pazzi Lazzi writes many of its own scenarios, inspired by real 1600s plots called “canovacci” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canovaccio ) and newspaper letters of the modern world. And since it is Commedia dell’Arte, “lazzi” (also known as jests or tricks) are written by the performers based on their work of improvisation.
