with actor Ezra Knight
the Bacchus Consort
and more...

As the 450th anniversary year of boundary breaking composer Salamone Rossi (ca. 1570-1630) draws to a close, we consider Psalm 137, a text which has resonated with oppressed peoples through the centuries with a special video project produced by Salon/Sanctuary Concerts and NYU Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò featuring the Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble that follows Babylon’s waves from Ghetto to Ghetto and Renaissance to Renaissance. Click here for the program notes.

5:00pm EST / 23:00 IT
Watch the video performance on our website or Facebook page

Program includes Rossi's setting of the Psalm text, Italian works he wrote for the decadent Mantua court, and a bracing reconsideration of Psalm 137 in the spiritual tradition by composer Brandon Waddles (b.1988).
