Adventures in Italian Opera 2016-17 Season Save the Dates

Fred Plotkin returns to Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò for another season of his hugely popular series, Adventures in Italian Opera. The events are free and open to the general public. However, Members of the Casa may reserve seats. All the events begin at 6:30pm will be streamed Live on this website.

November 9, 2016 - Francesca Zambello, a native New Yorker, is the Artistic and General Director of the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY, and the Artistic Director of the Washington National Opera. She is one of the world’s foremost opera producers (stage directors), having worked in most of the major theaters in Europe and North America.

December 8, 2016 - Cori Ellison is Dramaturg at Glyndebourne Festival Opera in England and is on the Vocal Arts Faculty at The Juilliard School. Her expertise and eloquence on everything operatic has benefitted singers and audiences.

February 23, 2017  - Diana Damrau is a beloved coloratura soprano and one of the opera world’s most in-demand artists. She excels in the music of Mozart, Verdi, Massenet, Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti and will appear this season at the Met as Juliette in a new production of Roméo et Juliette and as Elvira in I Puritani.

March 14, 2017 - Nadine Sierra is a soprano from Florida who, in short order, has achieved great acclaim in the world’s major opera houses. The fickle audience at La Scala demanded an encore at her debut in Rigoletto. She was one of the youngest winners of the Metropolitan Opera National Council award and debuted at the Met as Gilda. She returns this season as Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Ilia in Idomeneo.

April 11, 2017 - Daniele Rustioni, a rising young conductor from Italy, makes his Met debut leading Aïda in March 2017. He has already conducted at La Scala, the Royal Opera in London, in Florence, Pesaro, Bari, Munich, Washington and the Glimmerglass Festival, focusing on the master composers of the Italian repertoire.
