The small stage of the auditorium does not permit grand theatrical productions. In the last few years it has seen a series of greatly varied initiatives. Vittorio Gassman read passages from The Divine Comedy and discussed Dante with John Freccero. Giorgio Strehler , presented three evenings "Around Pirandello" with texts by Bontempelli and Rosso di San Secondo, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, in ensemble with Giants of the Mountain by Pirandello with the young actors from the Piccolo Teatro of Milan. The film maker and director Beni Montresor talked about his artistic journey and stages of lyric works.
A collaboration with the festival of Italian theater in New York directed by Mario Mattia Giorgetti, has been developing for the past few seasons. Shows are presented with the possibility of meeting actors, directors and often even authors of the texts. The tribute to Dario Fo, which alternated original fillings and passages recited by American actors, after the news of the Nobel Prize for literature award in 1997 was especially successful.
Yet even less "academic" theatrical forms - from marionettes to cabaret always found their space in the Casa's programs.
