Casa Italiana offers a series of high quality concerts, which have introduced artists of every nationality, especially young ones, to a sophisticated and attentive public. The repertoire is almost exclusively Italian and is dedicated to presenting the best works produced throughout the centuries by the greatest composers, even including some of the traditionally less popular ones. All types of music are represented in the Casa programs, from Renaissance polyphony to the musical avant-garde of this century, and popular tradition such as the ocarina of Budrio. Pop music has also figured in the Casa’s pro-grams. Gianni Morandi, one of the most popular contem-porary Italian pop stars, has been featured among our distinguished guests.

Each spring the winners of the International Festival of Ibla, a contest for pianists, singers, and composers held annually in Ragusa, Sicily, present a concert at the Casa. This event is made possible by the collaboration that Casa Italiana has cultivated with the International Festival. The "Winners" series has brought to New York an extraordi-nary group of young pianists from the prestigious piano school in Imola, all winners of international contests.

Among this wide representation of different music genres opera still maintains the most prominent role in our pro-grams. In addition to concerts, the Casa regularly hosts various conferences with the most renowned music crit-ics, and historical-documentary exhibitions about the most widely loved composers. Some of the most mem-orable ones are "Puccini in Milan and New York," organized in collaboration with the Istituto di Studi Pucciniani in Milan, and "Verdi and Censorship," displayed by the Institute of Verdi Studies at New York University.
